This intensive 5 day Massage Certificate
Course focuses on practical "hands-on"
massage techniques drawn from many
of the world's great massage traditions,
such as Shiatsu, Deep Tissue Massage,
Reflexology, Swedish massage, as
well as many massage techniques
developed by Naturopathic practitioner
Brandon Raynor. This Massage Certificate
Course also involves some of the
theories that derive from Oriental
and Western massage.

|
|
|
We teach in a simple way always
keeping in mind that the goal of
all these massage techniques and
strategies always work toward the
total release of all tension in
the muscles of the body as well
as the opening up of the subtle
channels of the body through which
the chi (or life force) flows.

Day One
|
During
the First day of the Massage Certificate
Course, the teacher will discuss the history
of massage and the different styles of
massage, contraindications to massage,
how to take a case history, hygiene, draping,
professional ethics, the qualities that
make a good massage therapist, the different
types of massage base oils used in massage
and the properties of a good massage table.
This will be followed by a demonstration
of massage techniques that loosen up tension
and blocked energy in the back and the
back of the legs, buttocks, feet, arms
and hands. You will also be shown the
"bands" of tension that interconnect
these areas. In the afternoon, students
will pair up and massage each other using
what they have been shown, while being
supervised by our teacher..

Day Two
|
|
On the Second day of
the course, the teacher will cover massage
theories associated with the release of
tension in the front of the body, especially
the abdominal area and the head. Many
people hold emotional tension in their
bellies, chest, ,hips and other areas
.Many conditions such as Irritable Bowel
Syndrome, ulcers, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome,
menstrual problems etc. Can be helped
by these massage techniques by releasing
emotional tension stored in the abdominal
area, combined with proper breathing techniques.
All theory associated with emotional releases
will be introduced early in the second
day of the course, followed in the afternoon
by students practicing these techniques
on each other. Each day students are encouraged
to pair up with different partners, in
order to get experience working with a
variety of body types. Some revision of
the previous days work will also be covered,
along with discussion on the concept of
the release of toxins in the body and
the natural therapies concept called the
"healing crisis" and what it
means. |
|
|
Day Three
|
|
On the Third Day, the
teacher will cover a side position that
we use to release deep seated tension in
the sacral area, which, when released, can
help loosen up tight spots higher areas
in the back, neck and cranial (head) areas.
This same position is also used for pregnancy
massage. We also introduce some important
stretches from Shiatsu and Thai massage
that make up part of Raynor massage. |
|
|
|
Day Four
|
|
The Fourth Day is spent
combining the massage techniques performed
in the last 3 days to perform a complete
massage and spent examining how the tension
in the muscles on the front of the body
can hold the muscles on the back of the
body tight. Revision of all previous covered
areas will also be done on this day. We
also start to bring in the concept of having
a strategy when you massage. Making each
massage suit the individual needs of the
clients, figuring out what the particular
main problem is for each client and using
strategies to release that tension. Confidence
should be building by today. |
|
|
Day Five
|
|
The Fifth Day is the
day for bringing everything together and
will also be spent revising and working
on different partners. This is the time
for fine tuning skills learnt in the previous
days and for getting a deeper understanding
of what is happening with massage. More
hands on work and complete massage demonstrations
by the teacher ensures that people really
start to get a feel for what they are doing.
The teacher will conduct a practical assessment
to make sure that students understand the
concepts taught. |
